Some of the nucks prospects im most interested in for this upcoming season:

Brisebois - how will he look on his new team? will he appear better not being on one of the worst teams in the CHL.

Cassels - how will bounce back with a full off season being healthy and able to train?

Gaudette - can he keep up or surpass the numbers he was putting up at the end of the year?

Lockwood - whats this guy really all about?

Stetcher - how will he transition to the pro game? I think this is going to be a great pick up!

flagged for perpetuating "first" idiocy (and failing at it) as well as failing to thank Carol as she should be in the first post....

I'm finding it really hard to get into this World Cup. The EST game times are one thing. Having the Blue Jays crammed down our throws by Toronto Mainstream Media is another, it's impossible to even see the highlights. This whole cable companies owning sports franchises looks worse and worse with each and every passing day

Fair assessment. However I don't agree with the Markstrom evaluation.

poor form mate..

Thanks for the great blog Carol! I have a feeling Lundqvist gets burned against either Canada or NA and we see Markstrom in relief.

Jacob Markstrom hasn’t panned out to the goalie many expected him to be.

this must be someone who doesn't follow Markstroms career.

Not developing in Florida, goes to Vancouver, waived to the AHL, gets his game back on track and is presently the obvious heir apparent to Miller until Demko is ready.

Markstrom was the best or one of the best goalie prospect for years.. he defiantly did not pan out. He's a decent goalie but people were expecting him to be near the top of the league for goalies..

I think it has more to do with Markstrom being labeled the best goalie not in the NHL 7 years ago or whatever it was. He has clearly turned a corner but at one point most pundits expected him to of been an elite talent by now.

I don't think it is that outrageous of a statement.

The Hockey News are bias bumhole

The bottom team this year will be the same as it was last year. I don't see Roman Pollak or Martin as being difference makers

Goalies are pretty hard to judge markstrom in 2010 was labeled the 2nd best prospect in the world behind Taylor hall and ahead of Tyler Seguin and Ekman Larsson by hockey's future and I remember the hockey news had him high like that for years too. still a decent goalie and can still improve not saying he's busted but people were expecting him to be one of the best in the league

It's really a shame that Canucks can not match the brilliant goalies that the Laffs had over he last decade

Except for Vancouver right

I think Calgary and Vancouver improve out of the basement. Calgary makes the playoffs and Van is middle of the pack.
Edmonton should move up a bit too.

I have Arizona, Colorado and New Jersey dropping into the bottom 5 with Toronto and Columbus.

P.S. I'll try to be more positive but I can't make any guarantees.

Wouldn't even waste my time wiping my ass with that rag.

Markstrom will be just fine.

This is Miller's final kick at the can here and once he goes down with injury (likely) it will be Markstrom's club to handle.

Time for Markstrom to live up to his past hype.

I just realized I read that as "bottom teams" not team.

Carry on.

I'm just saying, if you followed him, he didn't pan out in Florida. I think many thought he was done already after not establishing himself with the Panthers.

He came to Vancouver, still needed more time and development to turn it around and he passed through waivers to get to Utica- nobody wanted him... since then, he has shown he can at least be a backup in the NHL and is heading towards the starter job.

It is like people look at the Canucks from 5000 km away and repeat much of the same talking points we have heard for the last few seasons. And in the case of Markstrom, he was called a bust some time ago, it is still being repeated as if he hasn't improved.

I know he was was the top goalie prospect for awhile, but he had been written off.

It would be nice to think for the article, the news isn't he hasn't panned out, it is he was counted out and has since turned his career around.

Some of this is tone to me and some of it is just lazy writing.

As is Gaudette but I think he is just talking about player's seasons in general and not the prospect tourney.

Can see CAL/VAN competing for the WC spot if healthy. Gotta hunch both teams will miss though. Don't be shocked if EDM finishes ahead of both CAL/VAN.

I would be surprised . They got rid of their 30 goal guy for a twenty goal guy .
